As you've probably noticed (if there's anyone around to notice) I haven't updated this blog in a few weeks now. I'm just letting you know that I haven't abandoned it, I just have an awful lot of work on at the moment.
I'm taking an extended hiatus of a few more weeks and then I'll be back in the swing of things. I'll most likely still be popping around to my regular reads when I get some spare time but this won't be updated much for another two weeks.
When I do get some spare time I'm currently playing Harvest Moon DS. My fondness for all things Harvest Moon has been supremely escalated!
Thanks for your patience.

Sneak Like a Ninja!
I should be shot.
In order to win the Flower Festival on Animal Crossing: Wild World, for the Nintendo DS, I cheated by robbing other villagers flowers.
What? You didn't think I'd bother planting them myself, did you?
I'm off to repeatedly hit Tom Nook with a spade.

The Top Ten Nintendo 64 Games.
GameFAQs has a list of the top ten Nintendo 64 games if you click this shiny little link. Of course, it's just one persons opinion and you can go out and bludgeon them to death if you so wish (No Signal Input claims no responsibility for murder charges if you go and carry out that act). No Perfect Dark? Bleh!
Let's see what the N64 Kid has to say about this...
...no need to get so overexcited pal; it's only a generic top ten list!

The End of World of Warcraft.
I think these guys have the right idea. Luckily I got out months ago and now I actually have 'fun' with my games.

UK Ad Pulled for 'Glamorising' Street Racing.
A UK ad for the Xbox 360 featuring street racing stunts has been pulled from TV after the Advertising Standards Authority ruled that it glamorised street racing and could encourage young men to drive dangerously. - Gamespot.
Yet another overreaction from the nanny state that I, unfortunately, have to put up with every day. Does this mean we should ban all street racing video games or, hell, let's ban The Italian Job from being shown on TV every frigging week. Like an advert is going encourage the idiots who do this anymore anyway. 'Boy racer' culture wasn't influenced by a video game or an advert, it's just men being men.
Speaking of said advert I don't think I saw it when it was originally allowed to air in the first place. You have to ask though, why let the ad be shown on TV in the first place?
Apparently it was airing way back in October 2006 so wasn't really being shown on TV anymore anyway.

Soul Nomad Trailer.
RPG's annoy me. Well, not specifically RPG's themselves but the content within. Townspeople, I'd love to shove a sword down their throats sometimes. If it's not random information only a drunk hobo would tell a stranger, or blocking the way when you're in a hurry to get somewhere (people of Leeds, listen!), it's having nothing better to than stand around in the same position all day while complaining that they're the ones actually rushing to get somewhere (most likely with their awesome teleport powers they're trying to use before you disrupt them). So, how about a game where you can kill the little bastards? No? Just me then.
Soul Nomad & the World Eaters (because worlds go great with a side order of fries) allows you to attack, steal from, and force them to join your army (reminds me of that old Sega Megadrive game, Rings of Power). Sounds great! To be fair, though, I'd be more likely to play it if it was coming to the DS instead of the PS2.
Soul Nomad & the World Eaters is slated for US release in the third quarter of this year. Want to know more? Check out this 1up preview.

Hospital Tycoon to Revive Your Interest in the NHS (Not Likely).
If, like me, you loved Theme Hospital then you'll be happy to know that another hospital tycoon is on the way. It's name? Um, Hospital Tycoon.
As you'd expect the player is put in charge of running a hospital and dealing with the daily crap that comes with it (and by crap I mean it'll probably be all over the floor). There's a twist however. Amongst building dedicated areas for surgery, diagnosis etc. (Just like Theme Hospital) and watching for the spread of infectious conditions like “Monkey Nuts” or “Stress Zombosis”, the game will also have humorous soap opera feel that will do well to remind you of The Sims.
It's up to you to decide whether or not it's just another tycoon game when it hits Europe and the US this spring.

Second Life to Charge for Names.
SAN FRANCISCO - The online fantasy world "Second Life" will soon introduce the virtual equivalent of vanity plates, allowing residents to customize their characters' first and last names.
"Second Life" spokesman Alex Yenni said the feature, likely to cost $100 up front and $50 a year, would debut by the end of the year....
...But nearly everyone has to select from a rotating stock of surnames — conventional surnames such as Geiger, Felix and Lancaster, or futuristic, foreign or odd ones like Cioc, Stenvaag and Pugilist. - Yahoo! News
You'd have to be mad to pay $100 for your own name on a glorified chat room. Yes, I've been pretty positive about Second Life in the past but I guess opinions change. I haven't logged on in months due to the horrible lag and less than glorious presentation.

English Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Trailer.
Finally we have a trailer of the upcoming PSP action RPG, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, with English subtitles. Yes, no longer do you have to wonder just what those crazy Japanese voice actors are saying and can actually begin to make some sense of the trailer yourself. To be honest I still don't have a clue what's going on but those of you with more than two brain cells may want to avoid the trailer in case of spoilers. Anyway, it's something that will certainly be in my collection when it finally hit's the shelves. It's also worth mentioning that it doesn't really show any gameplay until the last minute or so.
The official Japanese site for the game has also launched. Note the key word 'Japanese' though. Now where did I put my Learn to Speak Japanese in 40 Years guide...
