You can say what you like about Second Life but you can't deny that it's flexibility allows its residents to come up with some incredible creations. I love the whole steampunk scene and this creation is staggeringly amazing.
I may actually visit this creation myself has it's been a while since I popped into the strange yet wonderful world of Second Life. You can visit yourself by following this link.

3000 Barrels Fall Down in Crysis.
Although Crysis itself would probably make my PC explode so much it would level my entire town I can still appreciate the wonders of what it's beautiful engine can do. The above video is simply breathtaking (considering I was once amazed at what Garry's Mod could do, and still am to some degree) and you have to wonder how a system can possibly exist to do all that without any slow down. Well, in simple terms, no system does exist. The video below shows what such a feat actually looks like in the game (not very exciting, apparently) and what can be done to combat it and make such impressive videos. The video also shows more amazing set-ups, but this time with boxes instead of barrels. Where is the explosive barrel love? WHERE???
For those of you who are lucky enough to be able to run the game on full and want a more detailed - and textual - explanation just simply go here.

The Sweet Tooth's Version Of Tolkien's Masterpiece.
The best thing about the Internet is that there's always something new and interesting for us to look at - more than you could ever need - something unique and mind-blowing that, without the Internet, we probably would have never found out about. They say that the Internet is unproductive; for the reader, maybe - but the immense amount of productivity showcased on the Internet makes it all the worthwhile.
So, here's a contender for today’s best use of productivity. Granted, it may serve no purpose in the long run but no one can deny the fact that it's freaking awesome.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, what better way to celebrate the Internet's greatness than to present to you a complete recreation of the Battle of Helm's Deep (from the excellent The Lord of the Rings trilogy) made entirely out of sweets (or, if you prefer the word, candy).
This is the zoomed out view. The whole thing was constructed out of cardboard, glue, icing and… well, candy. It clocked in at about 7 feet long by 3 feet deep by 2 feet tall. We used over 500 Gummy Bears as orcs and Uruk-Hai. The Elves, Dwarves and Men were represented by sour patch kids. Most of these were of course corpses. - Miss(ed) Manners
Aragorn's valiant charge into the mele and Gandalf's attempt to rescue them - this thing has it all. Walls made out of Jolly Ranchers with Starburst for steps, Nerds for blood and Tootsie Pops for catapults. It may seem like one truly massive waste of time but it succeeds in providing a great deal of entertainment and wonderment on behalf of the Internet throngs. This, and porn, is what the Internet was made for.
Hit the link for more pictures and the creators description of the battle.

Tiny Computer Chip In Development

The Beeb has a story up about a computer chip, being developed by Hewlett-Packard, which is the size of a grain of rice!
A chip the size of a grain of rice that can store 100 pages of text and swaps data via wireless has been developed by Hewlett-Packard.Ok, so it won't be available for two years but this can only be a good thing. The way technology progresses these days the memory of the chip will be much larger by the time it actually hits the market.
The tiny chip was small enough to embed in almost any object, said HP.
The chip could be used to ensure drugs have not been counterfeited, on patient wristbands in hospitals or to add sounds or video to postcards, said HP.
But it warned that the device was at least two years away from being a finished product. - BBC News
The chip itself has some advantages - and some disadvantages. Items can swap and share data with each other - items that couldn't swap data in the past. Just imagine something like Minority Report, going into a shop and the clothes communicating with your clothes to see what your taste is and offer reccomendations based on that. However, this potentially opens it up to abuse by advertisers. Although magazines and billboards, TV's, radio, and the internet all do that already and we put up with it. Also, if these chips can be imbedded in almost anything than what's to stop our nations becoming even more of a Big Brother state than we have today?
The Sensintrovert, however, speculates what happened to a chip the size of a spec that was once announced by Malaysia.
Whatever the case, things like this are just mind boggling.
