Midway has returned to its roots and launched MidwayArcade.com, effectively jumping on the bandwagon of selling retro games these days (Xbox Live Arcade anyone?). This means that more than 25 of excellent Midway arcade classics are now available for purchase and play on your PC.
Some of the games include Spy Hunter (above), Rampage, Rootbeer Tapper (I have fond memories of playing this in a school IT class), APB and Joust. The games are going for $5 in packs of three so it's a fairly decent price considering how much similar titles can set you back on Xbox Live Arcade.
While the prices are admittedly cheap I don't see why they couldn't have just made them flash games supported by ad's. You could say that a few people may just shrug and go back to their emulators but the keyword is 'few'. Midway is bringing these games to the mainstream who have fond memories of such games but don't particularly care about emulators.

For Such A Small Guy He Sure Gets Everywhere!
Those of you who are readers of the great and wise Gnome will know that he occasionally rises from his lair - filled to the brim with retro goodness - to bring his enlightenment to the rest of the web (do you think I'm plugging him enough here?). While we all know him for the lair he also runs Gnomes Gaming on the Go, The SEGA Master System Junkyard and Retro Treasures along with the occasional guest post here and there. You'd have thought he'd have covered all bases there but, no, on he moves to conquer the Internet.
Along with Chris (The Artful Gamer) and Gary (From the Gutter) Gnome is now writing over at the recently launched Game Cabaret which, in Gnome's own words, explores the 'the sexy, dark, humorous and at times serious side of video gaming'. After breathing in that new blog smell check out wonderful posts on 'Repressed Homoeroticism in R-Type' and realism in games through the film Cabaret.
With the excellent posts over at all three of these bloggers blogs I'm sure it won't be long before Game Cabaret is pumping out constant quality. Your owe it to yourself to check it out.

Cannon Fodder Coming To PSP!
Just when you think the PSP hasn't got much more to offer it comes along with this little gem!
Ok, so graphically wise it's changed a lot from the classic retro game we all know and love but, if the sense of humor remains as good as the original tasty pastry, it looks like we have nothing to worry about.
Coupled with four player deathmatch this may be a new reason to keep hold of that dust collecting PSP.
